Biography:
David B. Durrett is a principal in the law firm of Cohen
Durrett. Mr. Durrett's expertise is in the areas of commercial real estate leasing, finance and development. He has served as general counsel for a regional mall developer and has represented several state agencies in conjunction with large real estate projects while also providing detailed attention to individual commercial property owners. Moreover, he has supervised shopping center projects in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming.
Mr. Durrett believes that the best way to avoid future issues is to carefully negotiate and draft the documents necessary for the deal at hand. Because of the current problems facing real estate finance, Mr. Durrett is constantly working with lenders and borrowers to achieve mutually beneficial goals.
Mr. Durrett has written numerous articles and taught several courses concerning commercial leasing and real estate transactions. He has acted as a lecturer for Lorman Education Services, National Business Institute and the Continuing Education of the Bar.
Mr. Durrett was admitted to the Bar in 1982 after attending law school at U.C. Davis. His undergraduate degree was obtained at the University of San Francisco, where he graduated summa cum laude with a major in history. He is a former board member and officer of the Developmentally Disabled Service Organization, Inc., a former board member of the Sacramento Public Library Foundation, and a current member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
